IMS strengthens commitment to Ukrainian media with new Kyiv office
The office is located at Maidan in the heart of the capital city and increases IMS’ ability to collaborate with partners.
IMS has officially opened its new office in Kyiv. This development underscores IMS’ unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine’s media sector, especially amid the unprecedented challenges following the full-scale invasion in 2022.
A hub for collaboration and innovation
Situated at Maidan in the heart of Kyiv, the new IMS office is more than just a workspace – it is an opportunity to be even closer to our partners and operations. The modern facilities, which include a safety shelter, provide a secure and welcoming environment for hosting events, fostering partnerships and empowering local media professionals.
By establishing a permanent presence in Kyiv, IMS is taking its partnerships with Ukrainian media organisations to a new level. This proximity allows for deeper engagement with our partners and stakeholders, more tailored programme delivery and the agility to respond effectively to the fast-changing media environment in Ukraine.
Supporting media resilience in wartime
Since the full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine’s media sector has faced extraordinary adversity. Journalists and media outlets have operated under life-threatening conditions while striving to keep the public informed. IMS has been on the ground, providing vital support to strengthen media resilience, to enhance the safety of journalists and to ensure the survival of independent news outlets.
Looking to the future
“As we establish IMS’ Representative Office at Maidan in Kyiv, we embrace an incredible opportunity to be at the heart of Ukraine’s vibrant capital. This move not only enhances our visibility but also strengthens our ability to collaborate closely with partners by hosting events, meetings and roundtables that foster meaningful dialogue and innovation,” said Gohar Khodjayan, IMS Programme Manager for Ukraine and Head of IMS’ Representative Office in Kyiv.
National Adviser Roman Kifliuk calls the move a “logical step”, adding that it will help us better understand the local context and improve the localisation of our programme.
IMS is proud to stand alongside Ukraine’s vibrant media community as it navigates a defining moment in its history. The Kyiv office serves as a symbol of our shared dedication to truth, accountability and the power of storytelling in the face of adversity.
